From MITx to MIT Aero Astro

I made it!

I used to sit in my room in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and do MITx online courses. I started my first one when I was in year 10 (2016) on 1600x Introduction to Aerospace Engineering: Astronautics and Human Spaceflight. Being taught by Prof. Jeffrey Hoffman (former NASA astronaut) was an honour. I first learnt calculus on MIT OpenCourseWare too! MIT represented the pinnacle of technical excellence. It was always the dream to get there.

Spaceflight is exciting, and you don’t have to be a “Rocket Scientist” to share in the excitement! 16.00x makes the basics of spaceflight accessible to everyone.
Love at first sight

Last year, I made it there physically after my internship at NASA JPL - another dream come true!

With JPL intern and MIT student Jacob Rodriguez

Having personally seen it and truly believing it is technological heaven, I am so thrilled that for the next academic year, I will be there as a student on the Oxford-MIT exchange.

I will be a visiting masters student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) conducting research in additively manufactured superalloys in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics under Prof. Zachary Cordero.

Where the magic happens

Below is an image I took of my notes on the derivation on the Tsiolkovsky's rocket equation. I chose paper that was really old to make my notes from 2017 look like I discovered it a hundred years ago! One of my most cherished memories.

Notes on the rocket equation

My journey has been unimaginable for my 14 year old self in 2016. It was 6.5 years in the making. I am deeply humbled and thankful to all those that helped and inspired me.
